You have officially done it. You booked a tubin’ trip down the Stonycreek River with Coal Tubin’. Now you are ready for an exciting day full of adventure and excitement, but before you embark on your scenic adventure down one of Pennsylvania’s most beautiful waterways, make sure to grab the right equipment for your trip. Here is a checklist of items that we recommend bringing with you to ensure you are comfortable throughout your float.
1. A Bathing Suit or Quick-Drying Clothing: During our river activities, guests will be exposed to the water, especially while walking with their tubes into and out of it. To ensure maximum comfort, it is best to opt for materials that will dry quickly and not weigh you down while floating on the river!
2. Water Shoes or Sandals That Have an Ankle Strap: Without proper footwear, the river will claim your shoes! It is best to wear water shoes that tightly (but comfortably) cover the foot or sandals that have an ankle strap to prevent them from coming off. But do not worry, if you do not have a pair of your own, you can rent a pair of ours.
3. Life Jackets: For our younger tubers, life jackets are required for those who are under 12 years of age. Make sure to rent one at our front desk or bring one of your own (they must be reasonably safe)!
4. Sunglasses, Sunhats, and Sunscreen: No one wants to ruin their fun day by burning on the river! Make sure to grab sunglasses, sunhats, and sunscreen to protect yourself from the summer UV rays. These items will also help you to better see any bands and DJs (during event days) and the stunning surrounding nature. If you forget any of these items, do not fret! We have plenty to purchase on-site.
5. Coolers, Cooler Floats, and Snacks: A cooler only adds to the excitement on the river. Pack one full of your favorite beverages, and let us do the rest! We will provide you with cooler floats to rent and assist in carrying them down to your river tubes. Pro tip: do not forget the snacks! A day on the river can make you hungry. Make sure to throw some snacks in your car or cooler to eat upon return!
6. Waterproof Phone Cases: Do not be the person to lose or ruin their phone during your group tubin’ trip! Instead, bring a waterproof phone case or phone pouch. This way, you can capture your special moments, even on the river! At Coal Tubin’, phone pouches are a fan favorite, so we also sell them in our operations building!
7. Change of Clothes and a Towel: After returning from your trip down the Stonycreek River, you will definitely be damp! Bring a spare pair of clothes and a towel and change in one of our many changing rooms. We do not want any uncomfortable tubers on their ride home!
That is it! Now you are ready to immerse yourself in an exciting day on the Stonycreek River. We offer a blend of adventure and relaxation, but with these items, you will stay comfortable all day, regardless of the level of thrills you decide to enjoy. We hope to see you on the river!
